There are numerous opportunities for adult Christian education and fellowship at First Lutheran Church.  Our pastor leads a weekly meeting Wednesday in the library  for adult Bible Studies– One is during the day, and the other is an evening class.

A Men’s Bible Study Group has been going strong now for several years. They meet twice monthly on Saturday mornings, so they do not interfere with other Saturday activities. Once a month they share breakfast together. And determine the focus of the groups activities.

We Care is a special ministry of First Lutheran that involves reaching out to those who are home bound or ill with prayers, cards, and visits with Holy Communion.  We deliver meals to those going through difficult times.  And our shawl ministry volunteers often present those in need with a specially created prayer shawl to comfort with warmth and prayer.  The needs of those for whom we have a concern are listed in our weekly bulletin. Lay volunteers assist the Pastor with visits to those who cannot attend church.

We have a program for lay ministers who assist the Pastor with each worship service. Their responsibilities include leading parts of the liturgy, prayer petitions, and assisting with communion.

The Sisters of Spirit (SOS)a spiritual support group for women, meet monthly during the week to share a potluck meal along with lively discussion of the Word of God and its applications to our daily lives. It provides nourishment for both body and soul.

There are many other opportunities for adults to become part of the ministry at First Lutheran, ranging from ushering at worship to joining the garden committee. One can serve during worship, in educational programs, on service projects and during fellowship events. All are welcome to attend these programs; you do not need to belong to First Lutheran Church.  Check our calendar page for dates and special events.
